Since 1975, management of schools is shared by a board of management. The size of the board is determined by the size of the school. The board of management of Scoil An Chroi Naofa is comprised of 8 Members. For the year 2008/2009 the following people sit on the Board:

Chairperson: Fr. John Garvey
Vice Chairperson: Christine McLoughlin
Teachers Representative: Emma Grenham
Parents Representative: Catherine Gibbons
Parents Representative: Jack Duncan
Community Representative: Paul Riddell
Community Representative: Ethel Egan
Bishop's Nominee: Michael Lynskey

It is the duty of the board (under section 15 of the Education Act 1998) to manage the school on behalf of the patron and for the benefits of the students and their parents and to provide or cause to be provided an appropriate education for each student at the school for which the board has responsibility. The bishop, as trustee of the school on behalf of the local Catholic community, is recognised as the patron of the school.

The board of management has a duty of care for the children attending the school. This duty is exercised by the board's promotion of the welfare of the children and by a vigilance that is aware of difficulties and tries to eradicate or at least diminish them.

The board of management ensures that the school premises are safe for pupils and teachers. The board also endeavours to provide a good learning environment by maintaining the school in good structural and decorative order and by providing, within its means, for appropriate teaching aids and class requisites.

The board of management also ensures that the school has a code of discipline and of behaviour of pupils that was drawn up in consultation with parents and known to parents. The code of behaviour notes that any form of bullying is unacceptable.

The board is responsible for the overall running of the school and meets a number of times a year to discuss issues arising in relation to this. The members of the board decide on an appropriate course of action to various issues in the successful running of the school. The board oversees the schools finances and is presented with an end of year financial report from the boards' treasurer. It is also the duty of the board, following interviews, to ratify any posts that have become vacant/been sanctioned for the school.
